Mansoora grew up in Houston, graduating from the University of Houston with a degree in Nutrition and Food Science. She completed her dietetic internship and MS in Clinical Nutrition at Texas Woman’s University. Mansoora started her dietetic career in Corporate Wellness with Rediclinics. She has passion for nutrition support and has worked in the Critical Care units at Kingwood Medical Center, Houston Methodist Willowbrook and CHI St Lukes Hospital. She currently works at Houston Methodist The Woodlands as Clinical Nutrition Manager. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her two little boys. She has served on several Board positions in The Greater North Houston Dietetic Association. She is excited to take on challenge of serving as hospitality of GNHDA this year, to bring more awareness and enthusiasm to the field of dietetics!
Hospitality Chair: Mansoora Bhatti
Kara Lewis completed her BS in Family and Consumer Sciences, with a concentration in dietetics, at Texas State University. She moved to the Houston area in 2016 to complete her dietetic internship at the University of Houston. Currently, Kara is a distance student at the University of Alabama working towards a MS in Human Nutrition. She also works as a PRN Clinical Dietitian at Houston Methodist- Willowbrook. This is her first year to serve on the GNHDA board and is looking forward to her role as the Newsletter Chair. When she is not working or studying, Kara enjoys running, traveling, attempting to craft, and working on projects around the house with her husband.
President Elect: Kristen Wright
Gerri received her BS degree in Human Nutrition and Food Service Management from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She moved to Houston for her internship and MS degree in Nutrition from Texas Woman’s University and she never went back. Over the years she has worked as a clinical dietitian at two of the Memorial Hermann Hospitals, The Methodist Hospital Preventative Medicine Program, and most recently at the HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Humble. Her professional interests have been working in weight management and elderly nutrition, staying active in the professional organization and keeping current in nutrition topics. She now is semi-retired and enjoys working PRN at HealthSouth, traveling, trying new recipes with foods she has to look up on the internet to see what they look like, and then of course, taking advantage of the great restaurant scene in Houston. She said she tries her best to practice good self control!
Frances is a graduate of Dietetics from Louisiana Tech University. Now retired, she previously served as a Clinical Dietitian and Food Service Director of Knollwood Park Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. In 1995, she moved to Kingwood and was employed as Chief Clinical Dietitian at Kingwood Hospital.. She continues to serve in an advisory capacity on the Board of Greater North Houston DA. She now enjoys delivering Meals on Wheels, gardening and learning to fly fish with her husband.
Newsletter Chair: Kara Lewis
Kristen Wright was born and raised in Houston and is a proud Aggie. Whoop! After completing her BS in Nutritional Sciences at Texas A&M University, she completed her dietetic internship through Aramark Healthcare at Methodist Willowbrook hospital from September 2015- May 2016. She became an RD in July of 2016 and started her career as a Clinical Dietitian at Methodist Willowbrook hospital. Kristen is now pursuing her CDE certification and hopes to complete her exam early next year. In her spare time, Kristen loves to travel and enjoys exploring new places. For the 2018-2019 year Kristen has taken on the role of president-elect and is so excited about this new year!
Membership Chair: Gerri Berens
Veronika Yudin was born and raised in Belarus. In 2003 she moved to the US. Veronika completed her undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at Brooklyn College in 2016. She completed her ARAMARK dietetic internship program and passed RD exam in 2017. Currently, Veronika is working as a Clinical Dietitian at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. Also, she is working toward her MS in Human Nutrition at the University of Alabama. In her spare time, Veronika enjoys training her Boston terrier puppy and exploring new places in Houston area. This is her first year serving as a webmaster for GNHDA.
Emily moved here a year ago from Lafayette, Louisiana, where she was born and raised. She completed her BS in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette then completed her internship with Aramark at Houston Methodist at Willowbrook in May 2018. Emily recently passed her exam and is working as a Registered Dietitian with Sodexo at Kingwood Medical Center. She hopes to start working towards her Clinical Nutrition Support Certification within the next year or two. In her spare time, Emily enjoys traveling, running with her dog, reading, and trying new restaurants with her husband. This is her first year on the GNHDA board and she’s very excited to be the Secretary!
President: Kendall Stelwagen
Meet the 2018-2019 Board
Kendall Stelwagen is your 2018-2019 membership year president! She has a BS in Food Science in Nutrition and a MS in dietetics, both from Sam Houston State University. She is currently working at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Texas Medical Center as a Clinical Nutrition Specialist, covering ICUs and Nutrition Support Team. She loves her job because she gets to do parenteral nutrition all day long! This is her fifth year serving as a board member for GNHDA. In her spare time, she is an avid triathlete and loves to train! Her favorite weekends are spent traveling for races. She’s also getting married next April, so when she’s not racing or training, she’s planning her wedding. She is looking forward to taking the reins as president this year, and also hoping to grow our membership!

Treasurer: Leilani Bayer
Leilani Bayer is a registered and Texas licensed dietitian, a native Texan, and an eighteen year resident of The Woodlands, TX. Leilani is a lifelong learner - she holds a BBA in accounting from Texas A&M University (1987), a BS in Food Science and Nutrition from Sam Houston State University (2013), and an MS in Food Science and Nutrition from Texas Woman’s University (2014). Leilani is an experienced nutrition educator in a variety of subjects including nutrition for dancers, healthy eating on a budget, reading and understanding food labels, the benefits of probiotics, and food security/ hunger awareness. Leilani is passionate about helping Texans achieve their food and nutrition-related healthy living goals. Her ideal job would include nutrition counseling with a cooking demonstration followed by a grocery store tour. Leilani is an active member of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the Greater North Houston Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is serving a second year as GNHDA’s treasurer in 2017-2018. Her professional interests are those of food security, hunger awareness, cultural competency/sensitivity, public policy, integrative medicine, weight management, and nutrition education.
